About Georgie

My name’s Georgina, but I prefer to go by “Georgie”. Because I feel it is of value, my favourite colour is red. I’m a twenty year old university student with a Bachelors degree in Communication (Information/Media), having minored in media and photography. In 2012 I will be studying a Graduate Diploma in Interactive Multimedia. I live in the land down under, and according to people outside of this sunburnt country, I have an accent. Contrary to popular belief I do not have a pet kangaroo.

meI currently work as a front end web developer for a small company. I probably make up for all the people who dislike their job because I love mine. I will never stop repeating to everyone how much I love my job. It’s just what I enjoy doing in my spare time and I learn new things day after day and broaden my horizons.

My first job was in an education centre and I worked there for four years. I previously worked in a cafe, as a program developer for a publishing company, and as a web designer for a small radio station. Regarding webdesign, I also do some freelance work. This strays far from my childhood dreams of being a ballerina and a member of a highly successful indie rock band, but I’m a qualified student ballet teacher after completing my advanced major in 2009, and I was in a band during high school before my crazy ambitions with my songwriting broke apart my band the way Billy Corgan smashed his pumpkins. I used to have a great obsession with rocks and museums, and I still do. I really dig travelling and sightseeing.

me & JamesI’m taken by a wonderful guy named James. We met in high school, and our relationship was the result of an evolved friendship. My best girl friend Lilian is my other half. Despite only seeing each other about twice a year, we don’t go a day without talking to each other. In the eight years we’ve been friends, we’ve never had a single fight. We were born a day apart, and are still great friends despite the changes that have occurred over the years.

I willingly listen to any kind of music, but my favourites are the likes of Armor For Sleep, the Smashing Pumpkins, Avenged Sevenfold, Nirvana, Jebediah, Explosions in the Sky, Anberlin, The Beatles and Fightstar. (I’ve seen three of those bands live, and if you can guess correctly which three, I’ll email you a virtual cookie.) I love buying my favourites on vinyl records if I can, because everything is better on vinyl, even my breakfast. If you want to see me shake my booty, put on anything by ELO. If you know me well, you may be lucky enough to have seen me perform already, but if you don’t – I play the piano, guitar and a bit of drums.

me & Ben JorgensenBen Jorgensen, frontman of Armor For Sleep and now a solo musician, is one of my idols, and in January 2011 I was lucky enough to meet him at my first concert/gig. I don’t do so well in large crowds given my stature and build, but since then I’ve very much enjoyed going to shows and hearing live music.

The only thing I watch is Doctor Who, but occasionally I will surprise you with knowledge of fairly popular YouTube personalities. I generally hate television and every other show I have come to like has either been axed, cancelled, turned dumb, or become mutilated by some dull plot twist. Rory Williams dying was never a dull plot twist, though my heart sincerely breaks every time he does. Don’t tell anyone that.

I suffer from trichotillomania, and depression (for which I am currently on antidepressants). I have high blood cholesterol levels, so before you tell me to “eat more pizza”, please keep in mind that my slim figure does not reflect the amount of fat in my arteries. You might also want to take note that I dislike pizza. However, I will gladly live on miso soup and other varieties of Japanese food including sushi, ramen and sheets of seaweed.

I first created a website around 2001, because back then, Neopets pet pages were the bomb. Over the eight or so years I’ve been designing and coding, I have owned many websites. Today you’ll see me blogging regularly at my photoblog and organisational blog. If it so pleases you, you can view my site collective.

If you think you know me well enough, wait until you get to know what I name my stuff.
