I’m typing this blog post on my iPad, listening to post-rock music in the dark while I sit – or slouch, really – in bed with my headphones over my ears. I’m wearing marshmallow socks – that is, fluffy socks, and they’re yellow – and I’m wearing a big red hoodie.
It’s cold. And I don’t know whether to laugh or cry that the weekend is nearly here. Because of Easter, Monday was a public holiday, and I didn’t work or have class until Tuesday. On Tuesday I finished all the class work in ten minutes. It was very easy and involved some simple PHP that I was already familiar with. I left class early.
Yesterday, I didn’t go to class. I went straight home and picked at the code for that idiotic PHP shopping cart. I just can’t get it right. Once I’d figured out something small I just let it go and went to sleep. It doesn’t help that I get home at around seven-thirty most days; sometimes later. By the time I shower and eat dinner it’s nearly nine, leaving just an hour to brush my teeth and do any homework for the next day.
No, nothing to do with sashimi, actually, though I really dig that stuff.
The Easter weekend is over, I’m no less tired than I was when it started, but I did have a much needed break. I would say that full-time work is killing me! – but it’s not. I’m enjoying it. I’m finding just the right amount of time to do my assignments, having finished my macro/micro analysis with a beautiful long reference list. I’m pretty proud of it. I must say, I’ve learned quite a bit about JavaScript and its history, though I’m still not convinced that PHP is easy. I do like the way WordPress makes it look easy with their comprehensive guide – I wish that more tutorials on the web would be a bit more considerate of n00bs out there who are really new to something. Sometimes you just have to assume your reader doesn’t know anything when you write a tutorial, because it’s better than them actually feeling dumb for not understanding something.
For years I had been tweeting links to websites I thought were great. I love sharing things. Last week I decided to get a Delicious account, and I chose the [...] Read more…
Hi, I thought I’d blog. I was too tired to last night. My four-day weekend has started and I spent most of today replying to emails and browsing eBay. I can’t stop. I can’t get over how cheap jewellery is there, especially rings. I am only after fashion rings. You can get them pretty cheap at the market or when there are sales, ranging from $3 to $10. The annoying thing is that in a lot of the fashion jewellery stores, the jewellery is really expensive. It probably costs nearly $20 for one nice ring, whereas, if you look hard enough, you’ll find it online or in the market for a much cheaper price.
I was talking to Heza about rings today, and she told me that she hated adjustable rings and once a ring had actually cut her to the point where she was bleeding. Ouch. While I was complaining about my skinny fingers and not being able to find rings that fit, she couldn’t find larger rings for her bigger fingers. She definitely wasn’t after any adjustable ones. I don’t like adjustable ones either because sometimes they pinch the skin and they’re not all that comfortable. [...] Read more…
Today is just a four-day week. In my state we have Friday and Monday off, because it’s Good Friday and Easter over the weekend, through to Easter Monday. I am completely looking forward to this weekend because I really need to catch up on some work, reading my favourite blogs (/cry), and just having a break from university and work in large blobs. You have nooooooo idea.
I can’t really say I’m stressed, to be honest. I haven’t felt upset, or cried, or bothered, or wanted to scream at someone. Actually, maybe I have felt like screaming at someone, but it’s usually dissipated in a matter of minutes. Right now, I’m a little miffed at home-things – you know, parents, family, all that jazz. Mainly my mum not really dropping conversations past their use-by date. Sometimes she brings up things we’ve talked about and, truth be told, I don’t like that very much. Some things should be left in the dirt, where they were buried in the first place. Also, no one likes being reminded of the past sometimes. It doesn’t matter who you are or how you relate to the situation.
In this instance, let’s take my annoying hair. It’s [...] Read more…
Last night I went to see Ball Park Music live at the Factory Theatre. Ball Park Music is a band from Brisbane, Australia. Their music is best described as indie rock/pop. Their style is pretty eccentric and unusual – their lyrics are humourous and if I’m not lying, I think I’d say that if they didn’t have such interesting lyrics, their music would not be as fun, catchy, and memorable. Last night, seeing them live really highlighted the fact that they were all three of those things.
I was unfamiliar with the venue but I was thankful that Seb caught the bus with me and saw me off at the theatre. Second concert alone – I can do this, I said to myself. My last one wasn’t too bad. I have to say that the only bad thing about going to a show/concert alone is the intermissions and standing around waiting all alone. Most people are in groups and come with friends, and they chat while they wait for the doors to open. I wanted to talk to someone as I was waiting, but I just looked around, bored, eavesdropping on numerous conversations. I don’t think you could call [...] Read more…
