Hi Andi! First of all, and I have no idea why the hell I’m writing this in your review, but sorry for the wait; I’ve been busy with assignments lately; in fact I just submitted one before I started your review!

Starstrukk isn’t something that ‘wow’s me, but it’s fairly easy to remember and it’s short.

Coding and Validation

Your coding is valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional.

Your CSS is valid.

Great job Andi! I’m very impressed, and relieved; you have saved me a great deal of time.

Browser Compatibility & Usability

Browsershots.org tells me your site is fine in most browsers.

When I take a look at your footer in Mozilla Firefox and in Internet Explorer, they are different. In Internet Explorer the footer is fine and across the botttom of your layout. However in Mozilla Firefox it’s appearing under your sidebar.

To fix this you should add the attribute clear:both; to your footer div in your CSS; this will keep it at the bottom in all browsers.

The font size is alright; quite readable. The navigation is also very clear and obvious and the links are easy to differentiate.

Layout

Brown is a colour not often used; I quite like the warm atmosphere it gives in this layout.

The header image is nice. I like the simplicity of it, and the fair use of effects.

The CSS has warm earthy colours like yellow and brown to match the header image. The header image is simple but it’s a good choice. The colours chosen are also very nice.

It would be nice if the remainder of your container had a background. It looks a little strange seeing that sometimes, when your page is short – we just have the dark brown background. It would be neater if you extended the content background colour (#5E11B) so that the remainder of the container would look a little more fluid.

I think the sidebar could be made just one or two pixels wider as it doesn’t quite line up with the header and the navigation.

The CSS is nice. I have no problems with it, and generally, it all matches!

You have closed comments on your page about yourself and your main about page, but they are enabled on your ‘about the site’ page. I don’t know if this was intended though.

Portfolio

I don’t feel that I need to review this but all the images and pages work, and I must say, these photos are just beautiful. They are of great quality.

Amazing! Did you really capture those butterflies?

Resources

Some of the brush previews do still have your old website name on them so make sure you edit those.
I don’t really like the crazy shapes. The others are not bad at all though. The stars/hearts and swirls are my favourite.

The smilies are cute and well made.

I really like the textures. The bulk of these are nice, like the basic grey ones, and this light one. Most of these would be useful. The blue-gray grunge one and the pink techno one, though unique and quite cool, would work, but probably not be as appealing as the others.

Tutorials

You have just one – which is a shame because I did expect more, like how you made those great textures!

Well, never mind. I find this tutorial rather simple. I don’t use WordPress myself, but this seems like a simple and easy tutorial to follow. It would be a lot better if there were screenshots included on the page itself. Also, you could write a tutorial or article on some good or recommended WordPress plugins; just an idea there.

Originality & Creativity

You definitely have an original site. The photos in your portfolio were impressive.

Some creative textures and brushes. I notice you do like to be simple, particularly from your layout.

Organisation & Errors

Very well organised. All the sections were in order and everything in its place. Your thumbnails were nice and neat.

The layout could just be tweaked a bit to make it look more orderly!

Overall Comment

Andi, you have a rather simple, small site. I enjoyed my visit.

I think you do have some creative style and you have a good eye for usability – seen from your coding and simple layout – and good design – this from your simple but eye-catching layout.

It’s very original how you use your own photos and credit everything you need to.

Your site is well organised. You have done a great job and definitely put effort in.

The only suggestions I do have would be to add more content and tweak your layout a bit! I also have the feeling you enjoy writing and blogging so perhaps you might want to consider adding articles to your site.
