Site Name

I like the name Vingora. It’s very unusual so I looked in your ‘About’ section to see how you got it. Interesting story! It’s a lovely name.

You have a domain redirect; is there a reason why you don’t have hosting with it?

Coding and Validation

Your coding is valid and your CSS is also valid. Great job!

Thank you for validating your site. Please keep it that way! It’s always a good thing to be validated because it ensures your site loads a lot smoother.

Browser Compatibility & Usability

The site looks the same in most browsers according to Browsershots.org.

Your default font is of a good size. The navigation is also clear, though ‘Clear’ would be better named as ‘Home’. Your links are easy to differentiate. I like how they change from purple to a lovely aqua-green!

The layout is centered – great job. I see you just learnt it; you’ve done a great job.

And it’s not too wide either, so it’ll look great in smaller resolutions.

Layout

I like the colour scheme you chose. It’s unique and not many people use purple and green.

The header image is very nice. I like how you’ve combined retro circle brushes with paint splats, and added a lighting effect. The font you’ve chosen is also very nice, and the magnifying glass (is that what it is?) adds just the right amount of focus.

Your CSS is well done and matches the layout. I like the different headers you’ve used.

Content

Ashima

This page is well organised. I only spotted a few errors:
I don’t matter should be I don’t mind
on their face should be on someone’s face
hardwork should be hard work
pursue my career should be pursue a career
interested in should be interested with in
kinda quite should be quite
English everytime should be English most of the time
Malayalam, should be Malayalam;
This page was well written but you could start some new paragraphs where you start a new topic.

Tutorials

On your ‘getting hits’ tutorial:
much higher should be as high
everywhere as should be as much as
Its like this : should be It’s like this:
atleast should be at least
its better should be it’s better.
This isn’t really a tutorial and should go under ‘Articles’.

On your ‘choosing hosts’ tutorial:
and the host should be that the host
should now should be should know
ftp should be FTP
which allows you to have should be which has these features
I liked it should be I liked them
php should be PHP
cutenews should be Cutenews
piczo should be Piczo
xanga should be Xanga.
Don’t pur spaces before your colons! This is quite helpful but again should go under articles.

On your ‘getting hosted’ tutorial:
ofcourse should be of course.
This isn’t a tutorial and should go under ‘Articles’.

On your ‘top level domain’ tutorial:
DOMAIN?. should be DOMAIN?
get too should be get to
brag your parents should be beg your parents
donot should be do not.
Again, this should go under ‘Articles’. It’s a great article. I quite like this one a lot; it would really help people who don’t know about domains.

‘Firing staff’ is a great read. Possibly because I don’t like it when people co-own sites. Hahhhahah.

On your ‘FTP’ tutorial:
everytime should be every time
google should be Google
included should be include.
This is a simple but well written tutorial. Don’t put spaces before your colons and with your square brackets! You don’t need a space after an open bracket or before a close bracket.

On your ‘Imagemapping’ tutorial:
be having should be have
click the above link should be complete the above command.
Your ‘final product’ doesn’t work in Firefox, only Internet Explorer. A lot of imagemapping done in Imageready does this.

You need to show the final product on your mirrored text tutorial.

On your ‘metallic text’ tutorial:
didnt’ should be didn’t.

By the way, you need to stop that habit of putting spaces before your colons!

On your ‘glitter’ tutorial:
select up should be open up
neopets should be Neopets (and link this to the website)
ok should be okay.

On your ‘animated blinkie’ tutorial:
what is the size should be what the size is
this numbers should be these numbers.

On your ‘double stroke’ tutorial.. what does So like, that stroke yours. mean? I’m sure you can rewite that in a more meaningful way.

Your ‘faded edges’ tutorial is old; it has your old site URL on it. And again, don’t put spaces before your colons and with your square brackets!

On your ’3D text’ tutorial, capitalise 3D and OK.

On your ‘Installing FanUpdate’ tutorial:
preferrably should be preferably
you desktop should be your desktop
donot should be do not.
You’ve done this tutorial pretty well and managed to make it short too!

I’m not looking through your Cutenews tutorials, because you shouldn’t have them. Cutenews is an unsafe script that can be easily hacked. It has no security features and by having these tutorials you could be encouraging people to use it.

I’d say your ‘screenshots’ tutorial is useless but I know some people don’t know about them at all.

On your ‘graphic necessities’ tutorial:
to a it should be to it
do not should be do not
url should be URL
sneak peak should be sneak peek
another inappropriate should be something inappropriate
neopets should be Neopets
Ok should be Okay
you friends should be your friends.
This tutorial is old, isn’t it? Our shoutbox? Ah. There’s the hint. You need to update this tutorial; it’s kind of outdated.

I’d say your ‘unzipping files’ tutorial is useless too. You need to space out your headers/subheadings; they’re a little dodgy.
basicly should be basically
below figure should be image below.

Your ‘zipping files’ tutorial should be combined with your ‘unzipping’ one.

Articles

Your ‘Chatbox’ article has a good point.
used to use should be used to use it
respond to it should be respond to them
Ok should be Okay
do the same should be feel the same
Avoid using the word ‘pointless’; chatboxes can also be annoying – in the case of people advertising their sites.

On your ‘Yes/No to iframes’ article:
better stay should be better stray
iframe’s should be iframes’
for a pretty much should be for pretty much
lets should be let
Your headers on this page are a little dodgy and have large gaps after them.

On your ‘Addicted to the net’ article:
call yourself should be consider
might sounds should be might sound
things than should be things rather than
Its should be It’s
plain simple should be plain and simple.

On your ‘how to achieve your goals’ article:
you never got should be you never had
do say should be say we’ll do
end up is should be end up with is
our a should be out a
kids, should be kids;
Don’t just tell should be Don’t just say
as per should be from.

All these articles are excellent and you address a lot of good points. There’s no need to sign off your name at the end though.

Stocks

These all look pretty good. The second one is a bit blurry but the rest are okay.

Reviews

I won’t be reviewing this section, obviously. It’s well organised though, you seem to give fairly good reviews. I think I might apply someday!

About

Consider putting all these thought-up names in quotation marks; eg. “Sought-Glory”.

This page doesn’t have much on it, and it wouldn’t hurt to add your credits to this page instead of having it separately.

Your credits page is intact, but don’t you have any sites that you’ve used resources from? Like any you’ve used for your layout? The font perhaps, if the brushes happen to be your own. If not, credit!

Also, I’m confused as to why you’ve linked your host to a different site.
CMS (Content Management) system should be CMS (Content Management System).

Originality & Creativity

You had an original site with some original content. You write fairly well. Your articles are great.

You had a creative layout. It was put together and styled excellently.

Organisation & Errors

Loads of errors here and there, regarding spelling/grammar/punctuation, but they were just little errors.

Some things need to be moved around in terms of organisation but it was otherwise pretty well done. I didn’t find any broken links.

Overall Comment

Ashima, your site was quite impressive. You have good coding and your layout looks great; I can tell you are good with design.

You had a lot of great tutorials and articles. Your stock images were nice as well. Some things just need a little dusting. I’d love to see more stock images too.

I’m sure you are great with reviews, because your site shows you have good skill to help people in such a way.

Your site was excellent and fairly well organised. I’d love to come back to read some of your articles or reviews. You only need a few tweaks on your site and it’ll be better!
