‘Lofty Dreams’ is very cute. A slightly odd ring to it, slightly like a tongue twister. Would like to know where you got the name so be sure to add something in your site history about that.
Layout
The layout is cute. I like the text used for the links at the top. The image on the right of the girl is a little out of place and makes the layout a little uneven. I like the colours of the stripes at the top, they match with the stripes behind the girl. The colour of the links at the top should be just of these three colours – the colours used for ‘visitors’ and ‘guestbook’ are purple and peach which don’t really go with everything. Also, your background repeats on my computer. The whole layout isn’t centered, and I get a stripe of pink on the far right. I think maybe you need to consider different resolutions when making your layout. Mine, for instance, is 1152×864. Your little welcome message is too close to the image of the girl – space it out a bit. Maybe you could extend your rotations box as you still have a bit of space.
I notice that in your credits the layout was by Khayte – does this mean the whole layout? It was modified by yourself, so I am assuming you took the original idea and edited it to your liking. So I’m not sure if you can actually make layouts, so I won’t say.
Your CSS is okay but your links for your ‘commented by’ section in your blog are tiny; also because you seem to get a lot of commenters it looks like a chunk of links which isn’t too good. Some of your test changes colour when I hover over it, and I keep thinking it’s a link when it isn’t.
In Internet Explorer, your layout is messy. Your Category Cloud, Link Exchanges, Site Updates and Rotations are out of alignment. They are too far into the middle of the layout.
Content
About the content on your layout, you should rename the ‘Site Updates’ section to ‘Site Info’ because it gives information on your site and statistics, not updates.
GIRL:
This page was fine. You have some grammar mistakes but I’m taking it that your English isn’t perfect, also after reading your blogs, because you’re probably new to the language. I live in Australia, so if you wish is granted, you will like it here, it’s lovely.
DOMAIN:
What was disappointing was that there was no information about how your site came to be, how you started webdesign, did you start at lofty-dreams or somewhere else, that sort of thing. The related links are fine. What does ‘randomness is required’ mean though?
Your past layouts are lovely, probably better than your current layout. I would like to see more layouts like that, that have a bigger header image (but not too big). In addition, your guestbook has a cute layout.
VISITORS:
I don’t understand why you only offer ‘guess the celeb’ to link exchanges. That means this can’t be visitor content, because visitors don’t want to go to all the bother of exchanging links just to win something. I knew the answer but realised that I couldn’t enter because I wasn’t a link exchange of yours.
You have a form and a comment section on your SOTM, you only need one. I think the form is better as it’s private, should you reject anybody you can contact them privately. On other sections I like the comment function, but not on this one because you already have a form.
This and this and this are not yours. They are from here. These are what I have found, there could be more.
Your other tutorials are okay, I don’t understand why you take other people’s when you can make your own.
Your graphics are okay, I like your icons but you shouldn’t make them of celebrities because using celebrity images for your graphics is actually illegal. This is an article that will tell you about it.
Your layouts are okay. I wouldn’t say they’re the best but you’ve put effort into it. Your downloadables are good, I like the fonts you’ve put up for download. Your add-ons are all for myspace so be sure to state this clearly before someone goes to the page – maybe put it on the header.
Originality
It is not right to take what isn’t yours. I know you were lucky that Gunnstein was nice to not get so mad at you, but it’s best to remove anything else that may be stolen. It’s better to be safe than sorry, than having to encounter a narky furious ill-tempered person whose content you’ve taken.
Your visitor content is standard, I’ve seen everything before except maybe the myspace layouts and other things like that. But you’ve got a good balance of things, some graphics, myspace stuff, downloads, it’s all pretty good.
Errors
You should fix up your layout so it looks okay in IE. No broken links found.
