Site Name
Better than your other site! Still slightly long. There is a little discrepancy with the site name in that, I, being from Australia, spell it with a ‘u’ – colourful. It is best that site names such as these aren’t picked.
Layout
You have a purple background and your CSS is mainly purple, but the header image is colourful. It sort of clashes. Your header image, which I’ll start off with, is nice. I like the colours and how there’s almost every colour of the rainbow. The font you’ve used for ‘My Colorful Precious Ribbons’ is nice and suits the layout, but the colour on it doesn’t match. It would have looked better being a solid, single colour, perferably purple to at least match with the CSS.
I don’t like to say that the header doesn’t match your CSS but it doesn’t. It is mainly the orange and yellow that clashes. The blue and green towards the left is not bad because it fits with the purple.
If you chose to change your CSS instead, I recommend not making it too colourful, but using a light grey or simple black or white. But I don’t think you should change it, your CSS is excellent. Though I think that with your sidebar, everything should be boxed with purple like some of the content you have there – and your music box is too wide for the sidebar.
Additionally, some of the things you have on your sidebar are not necessary. Credits can go on your resources page. Your ‘attention’ note should be placed on your requests page.
I still don’t like how your content is included in your blog posts – I will expand on this later. Navigation was not a problem; the hovers were well done.
Content
Your blogs are written well, I didn’t like how just one of your blogs was centered and the rest were aligned to the left.
QUOTES:
More of these should be arranged in the blockquote like the first one! And the blue text – no. Make the text black like the rest of your blog. It looks a mess, so put ALL quotes the same.
When someone adds a quote, add them to your page and give their URL!
REQUEST:
Same with this page. Don’t make the font blue. And put the request type in bold, for example: “SIZE OF THE IMAGE: (width x height)”.
Your requests are good, but you should put more specifications. You should put ’88 by 31 banners’, ‘layout headers’ – specify, so visitors have an idea of what you can make. This is because from your page it seems like people can request anything. And perhaps show examples too.
PROJECTS:
In your navigation this came after your request page. I don’t think it should be named ‘projects’, because it has finished graphics requests – you can call it ‘pick up’ or something like that, or something that makes more sense.
Your images on this page need to be arranged properly, there are a lot of white spaces. However your graphic skill is fairly good, and I like a fair few of the graphics you’ve made.
PHOTOBOOK:
Your photobook is organised as is much of your site but make sure again, that you align your photos and such so there are no white spaces; perhaps by cropping the thumbnails to the same size.
RESOURCES:
Well set out and I’m glad you included them. Good job.
Originality
For a blog and request site, it’s fairly well done. Like I mentioned, you included content in your posts, like update boxes, which I was looking through. This annoys me partially because if I, or visitors, wish to look for something in particular, you do not have a section where things are listed. I understand that they can search in your search bar, but you need to state this in your little welcome message at the side. ‘Search what you are looking for above! I have banners, update boxes.. etc. available’. Something like that would be good, so visitors don’t have to scrounge through your older posts.
I understand that it may be easier to post something using wordpress but you should at least provide a link to it on a visitor section, because, when it comes to your visitors, you want to make things right and easy for them.
And categorise your blog posts! And maybe have categories at the sidebar instead of just the months ‘August 2008′, ‘July 2008′ and so forth. Make categories!
Errors
None, well done!
