Site Name

The prefix “oh” is quite common, but nevertheless your website name is easy to remember and short.

Coding and Validation

Your coding has 13 errors and 13 warnings.

While you have the fundamentals of HTML covered within your coding, there are a few errors that can be easily fixed, and I will address them here.

The following:

<a title="RSS Feed" href="http://ohgasp.com/cutenews/rss.php"></a>

Has been placed in the head section, and since you don’t appear to be using the tag (no anchor text filled), you can remove it.

Another key rule with validating coding – specify an alt attribute (alternative text) for all images. Screen readers such as those for the blind will be able to read these more effectively and give a better description if you put some alternative text on your images. Many of your images don’t have this.

You have numerous other errors and warnings which have been caused by Cutenews. Validation problems with Cutenews is quite common, but they don’t affect your website’s performance greatly.

Your CSS has 1 error and 10 warnings. You have a few errors which can be fixed if you take a look at the colours you’re using and be sure you don’t use them in the same contexts. Also, elements with float need to have width declared too.

-moz-border-radius, which you are using for your blockquote, is not a valid property. It is a piece of code that only works in several browsers.

Browser Compatibility & Usability

Browsershots.org tells me your site is fine in most browsers.

The layout is nicely centered. The width of the layout is rather wide though. Keep in mind that people can be using rather small resolutions so your website won’t look as neat for these people.

Your blog mentions that people have trouble reading your black text – in fact, a colour like #B4B4B4 would be fine. It is easier to read and balances out the contrast between the grey background and the textured light background.

The navigation is clear and the website is easy to navigate.

Layout

The use of bright colours on a dark grey background creates a nice effect. The light textured background also balances things out and avoids colour clash, so overall, the colour scheme is very good.

The general style of the header image is nice and unique. The little “about” blurb on the right can be written with smaller text. The website name and the tagline “Have a nice day” can be shifted over to the right a bit. “Have a nice day” can have some effect added to it; it looks a bit tacky, as it doesn’t suit the header image style like the website name font does.

The stylesheet is very creative; the colours are used to evoke interest while the font styles are kept minimalistic. The sections of lighter grey in the sidebar also add interest to the layout.

Content

Domain

This section would be better named as “website” or “site”; not everyone is familiar with the term “domain”.

For the link button, use <code> instead of <textarea>. Textarea is not intended for displaying code, it is intended for user input. In changing to code, replace < with &lt; and > with &gt;.

Your awards page is empty. You shouldn’t display this page until you have something to display.

On the past layouts page, ok should be okay. This page is quite organised, but some padding around the screenshots would make it neater.

On the credits page, Blogging Program should be Blogging Platform.

Her

On this page there are a few errors:
can not should be cannot
Gerald; should be Gerald:
Arnold; should be Arnold:
&& there is always the blog comments! should be and there are always the blog comments!

Reviews

In the information and rules honest, and harsh truth should be just truth; the truth is honest, and is not always harsh.

Also, more critical should be more critically.

Portfolio

On the weight issues article:
loose weight should be lose weight
in the weight subject should be about the weight subject
over weight should be overweight.
This is a very well written article, and unlike others I’ve seen, you have gone into detail about the issues. You might also like to detail the weight issues that occur with people of any shape and size, and how people usually want what they can’t have (you wish you had curves).

On the other article:
hardly ever should be ever
everyday should be every day
selfish thing thing should be selfish thing.

Hosting

No problems here.

Originality & Creativity

Quite original and creative. You have creative layouts, from what I’ve seen on your past layouts page, and you offer a good reviewing service along with some unique articles.

Organisation & Errors

Well organised; not many errors, only a few spelling/grammar errors.

Overall Comment

You’ve got a unique website that appears to be based around writing and helping visitors – reviews, blogs, articles, hosting (though closed). You have a rather small site but it’s well done overall.

Some improvements to make would be to simply add more to the portfolio as there isn’t much.

Your layouts are very creative, colourful and original – keep up the good work.
