Site Name

Lethargy is a short and unique site name. It is really something I’ve not heard of before!

Coding and Validation

Your coding is validated. Your CSS is also validated.

That makes my job so much easier. It also shows that you take pride and care about your site not only on the outside, but the inside as well.

Browser Compatibility & Usability

According to Browsershots.org your site looks the same in most browsers. However your navigation is off alignment in Internet Explorer, because margin.png doesn’t act as a background for it.

Your navigation is large and clear, but in smaller resolutions the navigation ends up running on two lines. To prevent this, make the gaps between the links smaller, or make the text a little smaller.

Your default font is of a good size and it’s easy to read.

Layout

It looks great! I love the colours, except I think the black background of your header image should be a different colour. Black stands out a little too much.

Your layout is centered, but your header image isn’t. You should make a vertical background and crop your header image and center it, because sometimes it doesn’t look centered – depends on the resolution; on mine it looks off to the left rather than center.

I’m loving the CSS! It has variety and makes a seemingly simple layout look great! You’ve chosen a great colour combination.

Content

Webmiss

Quite a short but sweet page!
lethargy should be Lethargy
me , should be me,
just, should be just.

On your lovely list of likes, dislikes and favourites, capitalise TV. This page would be better listed, but it’s quite funny when you cumulatively list your dislikes. Hahaha!

Resources

The icon textures are epically awesome. Sorry, I’m so obsessed with the word ‘epic’ right now! These are really great though. You need to space out your last row though.

Capitalise your site name on your stocks page.
These stock images are all great as well, and of good quality. The maths ones remind me so much of high school! And is that your writing? Wow, it’s so neat!

The old stock images look pretty cool because of the greyscale-style.

Oops, you’re redoing your wallpapers page; looks like I can’t review here.

I like the templates. They’re a nice addition that I don’t see often and can assist people who don’t know how to use containers. Your CSS templates look excellent.
Capitalise PHP on this page.

I also like your WordPress theme. Try adding other colours!

Off to your articles now. I love your ’31 great blogging ideas’. They would be a great cure for anyone with writer’s block.
grandmascookies should be grandma’s cookies
also, capitalise TV.

Your article on affiliations is great and I agree with everything you say. Having a number of hits required to be an affiliate is derogatory and silly.
Capitlise MySpace and CSS on this page.

You’ve got great points in your ‘guide to blogging’, though people can write about what they like anyway. True though, you need to keep the visitors coming back!
Commentor isn’t exactly a word; try replacing it with something else.

On your ‘Michael Clayton’ movie review, ambiance should be ambience. Movie reviews aren’t something I normally see on websites so this is great. I’ve never heard of this movie but it sounds pretty good.
Consider linking to Netflix.

Tutorials

Capitalise CSS, HTML and PHP on this main page.

Your guide to making textures is great. Before reading it I had absolutely no idea how to make a texture. I didn’t realise it was that simple!

On your ‘Downloading brushes’ tutorial, capitalise Adobe PhotoShop. Also, open click on should be open the.

On your ‘simple professional layout’, you should capitalise PhotoShop and Sylfaen. You might want to pop the result at the end of the tutorial.

The pen tool tutorial is really simple and a bit useless. I see you’re going somewhere leading to your ‘creating curves’ tutorial (there is no link to it on the main tutorial page, by the way). But well, I wouldn’t say these tutorials are great.

Also, you need to capitalise PhotoShop as mentioned above, and ok should be OK. Try and add emphasis on the ‘control A’ and other commands, to make them easier to see. For instance, making them in bold text.

Your ‘centering layout’ tutorial is a little unclear in some places, but I do like how you’ve explained nearly every part of the coding. Some of the boxes that hold your coding are too big.

I really like your ‘simple professional CSS text effects’ tutorial. There’s only a couple but they look great. I haven’t seen these around and I actually might try them out!

Your little tutorial on showing codes is quite handy. You could combine this with codes used for special characters. Also here, you’re using really large boxes for your coding; it’s unecessary.
Convertor should be Converter.

I do like your validating tutorial but as I said, your large boxes are really annoying. Also, you’re incorrect with <p />. A paragraph begins with <p>, and ends with </p>. You should remove that.

The tutorial isn’t bad, but please capitalise HTML and XHTML.

The PHP tricks are also great. You have a lot of handy small tutorials here. I really like that!

The tutorial on skinning is also good. I saw a similar one but it was harder to understand. Yours is quite good.

Your WordPress tutorials are pretty good. I have no experience with using WordPress, but I found these tutorials to be well written and clear. Though you should capitalise WordPress!

Site

Capitalise your site name, Lethargy! It’s a name, right?
html/css should be HTML/CSS
neopecs should be Neopets
geocities should be Geocities
freewebs should be Freewebs
bravenet should be Bravenet
neopets should be Neopets
cynosure should be Cynosure.

On your Affiliation page:
aim/msn/twitter should be AIM/MSN/Twitter.

Your credits page is nice but noting exactly what you used from each site would be better. You need credit for your blogging system and your FAQ script too. And capitalise CSS.
Lady Penguine should be Lazy Penguine.

Your FAQ is great. Though personally I find that people ignore these sorts of things when asking with my Q&A script. :P

Ask Me

This is pretty self explanatory.

Reviews

Obviously I don’t review review sites. I think you’d make a great reviewer though; I might apply one day!

Originality & Creativity

Your site was definitely original. From your site name to your articles and some great well-made resources, to your little tutorials with tips and tricks. There was a lot of interesting, and not to mention, helpful stuff!

You have a creative streak and I see this in your layout tutorial and the colours you use in your layouts.

Organisation & Errors

Everything was very well organised, though I wouldn’t put ‘Ask Me’ in the main navigation; rather in the ‘Site’ section after the FAQ link.

I didn’t find any broken links or images. Spelling and grammar was okay; simply many punctuation errors with failure to capitalise names and abbreviations.

Overall Comment

Kari, you’ve got an interesting and fairly organised site. Your content is great and your resources are of high quality. Some of your tutorials are great; others could be improved or tweaked. You should try and use smaller boxes to display code.

My first suggestion would be to totally center your layout header and fix your navigation, and fix those errors I pointed out.

I love your articles and your stock images; they’re excellent. I’d love to see more!

Good luck fixing those errors; your site is almost perfect!
