Site Name

Love the name! Yes. I have gotten used to remembering it. I still very much like the name.

Coding and Validation

Your coding has 13 errors. I think it is a very tiny error so I’m going to check it out.

Well, in quite a few places in your sidebar, you are writing <br> instead of the <br /> that is required for XHTML. Small errors there.

Also, you are using an id for your “opening” div. This means that you can only use it once. You have used it twice, resulting in errors. If you want to use something like that more than once, you must make it a div class. Have a look at my tutorial on classes and ids.

You also forget to end the time at the end of your post with </em> from the italics.

If you fix those, coding should be all good!

Your CSS is validated. You have a few warnings – just caused by not quoting fonts with whitespace (like quoting “Times New Roman” – fonts that have a space in them), and using the same colour in some spots.

Browser Compatibility & Usability

Your site is okay in all browsers according to Browsershots.org. Well done!

The navigation is very clear – well, big – and the text is easy to read. Nice job. I don’t think ‘navigate’ is necessary though; it’s a bit obvious that it’s the navigation, and it’s quite nice and large too.

The sidebar could actually be made a bit narrower. It is quite wide. The whole layout is just a bit wide for the 800 by 600 resolution, which some people still use.

Layout

It’s so simplistic – which is great! A great use of typography, making things easy to read and very flowing.

I like the simple purple colour scheme. Purple is actually one of my favourite colours.

I don’t really like the underline beneath your neavigation and at the foot of the page. They’re a bit out of place, and they are more of a blue shade than a purple shade – not fitting with the colour scheme.

Other than that I like the simplicity and professionalism of this layout.

Content

You still have that organised sidebar! :) Well, it’s been a while since your last review, so let’s see..

About

Wow, definitely a simple, neat page. I like how this page is so short! And you’ve got some fairly good credits here.

No problems here that I can see.

Articles

Just one! Aw, well. I know how well you write, so I’d love to see more.

A few errors on the single article ‘Hits plz’:
stupidly worried should be stupidly worry
there stats should be their stats
there sites hits should be their site’s hits
any where should be anywhere
don’t feel its should be don’t feel it’s
when the get should be when they get.

I liked this article, in particular how you referred to the people who work hard and make quality content even if they get no visitors. I like how you have focused on not just the hits, but the content and the owner of the website. This article was very well done, even if there were some tiny grammar mistakes.

Blog

Oh. This leads to the homepage. I was a bit confused. I think you should have ‘Home’ instead of ‘Blog’ to make things less confusing. After all, your blog is on the homepage!

Movies

I love how the page is set out. Alphabetical order, with little blurbs – top job. I think Charlies Angels should be Charlie’s Angels (with an apostrophe).

I like how your reviews are set out in dot points. It makes things easier to read and easier to skim for someone who’s just looking for something brief.

I am browswing through all the reviews, and I think that you should include a brief recount or note about the storyline. For instance, with Changeling, I am unfamiliar with the story and what it is about. A good introduction to each movie would be good – even just a sentence or two.

On Conversations With Other Women, you don’t write in bullet points. Which is fine, but I thought you might want to keep things consistent.

In Cruel Intentions, Geller should be spelt Gellar.

In Johnny English, roll should be role. I believe it’s Natalie Imbruglia; the name you’re after. :P

Hahaha, Zooey does look like Katy Perry. Honestly, when I never heard of Katy Perry before, I thought she was Zooey.. anyway, just a side note. This review on Yes Man isn’t in bullet points either.

Reviews

I remember your reviews! I think you’re a great reviewer and I look forward to seeing some reviews of yours soon.

No problems here. Great rules and everything. Nice job.

Originality & Creativity

You’re an original writer with some passion for writing, I see! I like how you have a lot of writings on your site; very original.

I thought it was pretty cool that you use Textpattern; that’s just more of a personal note.

Organisation & Errors

Very well organised. I didn’t find any broken links.

You could fix up a few of your grammatical errors; that’s about it.

In your comment forms, ect should be etc.

Overall Comment

I like how you’ve progressed to keeping a professional, simple layout, and only focus on your writing.

I notice a few new film reviews here, and it’s good you’re keeping up with even some recent movies. They’re quite interesting to read because I hardly watch movies.

I don’t have much to say on improvement; just fix the errors. Your site purpose is clear and you write well – Piano Girl makes for an excellent personal site. Good work!
