I love my mum. She doesn't know how much I look up to her. She is strong and brave.

The “I Love” Project

Every year since 2010 I celebrate my domain's birthday on the 11th October with some kind of project. In 2010, it was the 'Love is...' Project and you submitted your definitions of love. In 2011, you shared what it is that you love.

On the 9th October 2011, this design was released with a rotation above the sidebar with chosen submissions. Read more...

Site Name

I love the name! It’s unique and easy to remember.

Coding and Validation

I’ve visited your website frequently the past few weeks, since I wanted to look at your website before I delved into your review. I’m glad you decided to take on editing a theme instead of just using one!

According to the HTML validator your coding has 6 errors. You’ve just got one little mistake in the coding for the link to Vicky:

 <a href="http://dearagony.org"target="_blank"<

Make sure you put a space before target="blank".

Your CSS has 2 errors. You have multiple values specified here:

color:white; #0B486B #007180

You should only have color:white; or color:#0B486B; or color:#00718; – and that’s it!

Browser Compatibility & Usability

I have looked at the majority of your site in Firefox. It looks the same in Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome – there’s not a problem there!

I’m fine with your text size, though I think the links could be a colour other than black.

One thing that bugs me is the navigation. It could definitely be bigger, and there should be more spaces between the links so we can tell the links from each other. Since you don’t have too many pages linked here either, it might look attractive if you made them large and obvious, also enlarging the text for your site name.

Perhaps “blog” would be better expressed as “home”.

Layout

I know you’ve edited a layout but I couldn’t really tell (before reading your blog post) that it was a layout of Vicky’s. I like what you’ve done with it – the colours are cool and soft, and the background balances it out. The black stands out a little funny as the links though – I would recommend some other shade of blue or green, because as the blog titles are links, they stand out a little too boldly as black. They look better as blue on the pages (as they aren’t linked).

Another idea – you could edit the single.php settings or the settings for an individual blog page, so that the title isn’t a link.

I also like the dash of yellow in the blockquotes. Perhaps make your links a shade of yellow or orange on hover? Just a suggestion.

Content

About Me
I think you could place “Contact info” in <h1> tags, since it’s a separate section from what you’ve got under “About Liz”. It would also look a little more organised.
Hi ! should be Hi!
on accident should be accidentally
And be sure to capitalise Matmice, CSS and “I”.

Notebook
On this main page:
pieces feel free should be pieces; feel free.

On the guidelines page:
photograph should be photography
you.Please should be you. Please
information,name should be information, name.

One of my favourite poems on your site is The Wishing Well. I believe that in the poem some where should be somewhere.

I actually really like Journal of Blue because of the unique ways you describe the journal, and I have to say that Voices really stands out to me because of the format – I sort of adore the lines of enjambment (a personal favourite).

On Envisage, there are a few mistakes with homophones:
there human should be their human
then they thought should be than they thought
then I thought should be than I thought.

On Photoshop, protubering – do you mean protruding? Not sure what you meant here.

On the Twilight review:
a new kinds should be new kinds or a new kind
there own should be their own.

On the review of Dangerous Minds:
school.Many should be school. Many
peoples lives should be people’s lives.

On Reminiscing, better then yourself should be better than yourself.

On Sibling Rivalries:
him ? should be him?
barbies should be Barbies (unless you’re referring to the short form of barbecue as “barbies” but I don’t think so).

On “What is the basis of a decision?” you mention a comment form but you’ve disabled the comment form on this page.

Originality & Creativity

Definitely a lot of original work in your writings, and I really like the pieces you’ve done, especially those under “other” – they’re quite personal but also informative. In particular I love your thoughts on what makes a decision.

Organisation & Errors

Quite well organised! Everything was neat and had its place.

Overall Comment

For what your site is – I’ll admit it’s nothing much and I’ve reviewed much bigger websites. But your website is simply a blog and some written pieces. I pointed out what mistakes I could find in your writings, but I didn’t want to judge them so much. I think you’ve got a well organised site with a good choice of layout – you’re probably only just getting your hands into WordPress themes but I congratulate you on that step.

There’s not much I can say about your site, but you did repeat a few mistakes in your writing which I hope you’ve picked up on. Do keep on writing, because I think that you have some creative pieces as well as some unique topics on what you write.

The only thing I would suggest is to make some modifications to the theme as I suggested, and probably some more writings or articles.
