The “I Love” Project

Every year since 2010 I celebrate my domain's birthday on the 11th October with some kind of project. In 2010, it was the 'Love is...' Project and you submitted your definitions of love. In 2011, you shared what it is that you love.

On the 9th October 2011, this design was released with a rotation above the sidebar with chosen submissions. Read more...

Site Name

It’s quite a unique name and it’s easy to remember.

Coding and Validation

Your HTML is valid.

Your CSS is valid.

There are a few warnings, from using the same colour in certain places. Also, floated elements must have width. For example, your navigation and headers. One of the attributes should be width. You might want the width to match however much text is written, in which case you would use width: auto.

I can’t even spot any flaws in your coding; it’s very well done. Every piece of styling is in your stylesheet and you’ve kept the coding very clean.

Browser Compatibility & Usability

According to Browsershots.org your site looks the same in most browsers.

Both the navigation and the text are clear, but they could be made a bit bigger. It can be a bit hard to read your text, and it’s a bit on the small side.

Layout

It’s very simple and I like the use of the speech bubble in the website name and in the affiliate links. I didn’t notice the affiliate links until I read your blog, though. If you could make the main navigation like this and extend the layout’s theme, it would look very unique.

I notice the background scrolls with the page. I would prefer it if the background was fixed (attachment: fixed;). I believe there’s less movement and it’s a lot neater, considering the background is quite “busy”, for want of a better word.

I’m not sure why, but one of your affiliates’ speech bubbles is orange, and the rest are blue.

Speaking of colours, the layout would look more interesting with colour. That isn’t to say the current one is bad, though. It’s put together nicely and none of the colours are blinding. They work well together.

The reviewers and advertising links are close to the edge of the box they’re in. Perhaps decreasing the line height of the headers would help, just for that part.

Content

The “home” link at the foot of the layout links to the credits page.

About

On the main page there are just a few small errors:
Matmice, I should be Matmice; I
made probably should be probably made about
“Take-Off”, it should be “Take-Off”; it.

You have sub navigation links at the top of this page. It would look neater if you had them at the top of every page in this section.

Also, “Comments are closed” doesn’t need to be displayed at the bottom of the pages. It should be removed as it’s not necessary.

The credits page is great; you’ve credited everything you need to credit.

On the owner page:
nerd, I’m should be nerd; I’m
macbook should be Macbook
your not should be you’re not.

On the likes page, Terabethia should be Terabithia.

Visitor

The vectors are good – they’re of high quality and are saved with transparent backgrounds.

On the brushes page, the comment box is very wide; it nearly goes past the width of the layout.

The brushes look great. I hope that the credit for the images was on the credits page.

On the blogging scripts page, is pass should be is past. I can’t say much on this page; it just links to the official websites. You have made me aware that FanUpdate is back, though.

Tutorials

I can barely see the code on your padding tutorial. It’s a colour that is much too close to white.

The no-no codes tutorial is a good start – but it seems incomplete and you can add many more codes. Even better than the styling in the HTML tag is using CSS to make it work.
background: #color url(IMAGE URL) should be background: #color url('IMAGE URL').
HTML codes should be HTML code.

On the PHP includes tutorial:
because of their convienance should be for convenience.

Reviews

Nothing wrong here.

Originality & Creativity

You didn’t have much on your website but it was relatively creative and original.

Organisation & Errors

Fairly well organised; not many errors.

Overall Comment

You have a great site, but I feel that it’s lacking something. Your website seems very small. I’m not saying this is a bad thing but your website seems rather empty and I’m sure you can add a lot more content. That’s the main thing that is making your website lack in excitement. Otherwise, you have done a fairly good job, but things need spicing up.

Thank you very much for my review! I will fix the things you suggested. Oh, about the affiliate link, it was more of an inside joke between an affie and me!

Thanks again,
Paige
