Site Name

Simple and easy to remember; no problems here.

Coding and Validation

Your coding is valid.

Your CSS is valid. You have one warning – elements with float need to have width declared too. It’s not necessary to fix this as it appears to be in your Cutenews entries, and not affecting the performance of your website.

The coding is a huge improvement from your last review. You have cleaned it up, used divs, and organised it so well. I’m very impressed. Checking your coding I don’t even see many fragments of embedded CSS, which is excellent.

Browser Compatibility & Usability

Browsershots.org tells me your site is fine in most browsers.

The layout is nicely centered. The width of the layout is rather wide though. Keep in mind that people can be using rather small resolutions so your website won’t look as neat for these people.

The navigation is fairly clear but it should be made bold. The font is also not available on every computer or operating system, so try and specify other fonts in the CSS: font: 9pt Papyrus, Arial, "Times New Roman";. Personally though, I don’t like the font choice.

The main text colour is fine but the size should be increased.

Layout

Your background succeeds in making me dizzy when I scroll, so add attachment: fixed; to the CSS for the background.

The image is very nice. A good choice. The dark border and light blue edges on it look messy though. You should have cropped this image better.

The website name looks a bit plain. Good font choice, but some dropshadow or glow on the text would make it stand out a bit more and not look like it was simply “slapped on”.

The position of the image should be fixed too; the white gaps on the sides of the header image look messy. If you placed the header image above the blog, and let the sidebar trail down the side (adjusting widths of divs where necessary, of course) it would look a lot neater and more uniform. Also, you should increase the width of the divs for the blog entries as there is a large white gap on the right.

Some elements of the sidebar would look better aligned to the left, such as the welcome message.

The layout is very nice on the eyes and pleasant to look at. Some elements of the stylesheet can be fixed. The headers are quite light coloured on the white background. Otherwise, the colour choices are very nice.

Overall the layout is simple, but the alignment and positioning of divs needs some work.

Content

Teza

The text on these pages should be aligned to the left. By convention, people read from left to right.

On your biography page, spontanious should be spontaneous.

On the history of performing page, oneday should be one day.

Be sure to fix that form for the Heart Hunt too; I understand that you mentioned it in your blog but the sooner you fix the problem, the better.

Visitor

On the “ask me” page, your using should be you’re using. You should also fix up this page a bit so the text styling matches that of your other pages.

On the reviews page, my hand a writing review should be my hand at writing reviews.

Add some movie/book reviews soon!

Just so you know, I had trouble deciding on a single choice for a sandwich filling in your current poll. :P

I’m sure there should be an image on the charity page but it isn’t appearing.

On the plugboard, exept if should be unless.

On the SOTM page, some of the bullets aren’t the same as the blue image bullets you’ve been using; they’re the browser’s default. For the buttons, you should be using <code> to display code, not <textarea>. textarea is intended for user input and not for displaying code. code is also a lot neater, and you can customise it with CSS. In doing so, though, you must replace < with &lt; and > with &gt;.

Projects

On the main projects page, cureent should be current.

The links to the first three projects are 404s.

Writing

I love the Titanic one; just thought I’d point that out. I also like the Tell Me When Autumn Comes poem.

You have some punctuation marks appearing as question marks on the poem titled “Identity”. Possibly because you have pasted from an MS Word document, as Word changes straight quotes to “smart quotes”. This is a common mistake.

On your short story, I believe tried should be tired. Also, wispered should be whispered.

The link to “Breathe” is a 404.

“Kisses at Dusk” also has a large number of punctuation symbols as question marks.

Media

Oh right. A gallery and all that. I remember looking in here before when I was browsing your site. Nothing wrong here; just didn’t expect a different look.

Site

On the website history page there are a few errors:
bebo should be Bebo
oneday should be one day
proffessional should be professional.

On the link buttons page, as I mentioned earlier, use code to display the code and not textarea.

The credits page would look a bit neater if the links were in alphabetical order.

Originality & Creativity

You have so much original content, and very interactive content too. A lot of personal information is included as well as some fun pieces of visitor content. You certainly have very creative ideas.

Organisation & Errors

Organisation was okay. Generally, things looked a bit messy because of the centered text.

There were quite a lot of missing pages so be sure to add them.

Overall Comment

You have made such a significant improvement since a few months ago; it’s hard to not notice. Your website has clearly become more interactive and interesting. Many websites have graphics and tutorials to attract visitors but yours attracts visitors with unique interactive content.

There are some subtle changes you can make to your website, the layout in particular. While these are subtle, they can make a big difference to your website’s look. Keep up the great work, and be sure to fix all those errors!
