Site Name
Painted Memories is a lovely and unique site name, but the URL is a little long.
Coding and Validation
According to the W3C Markup Validation service, you have 44 errors.
You’re missing the opening <html> tag at the beginning of your document, before <head>.
Other errors are caused by:
- The use of the trailing backslash – a backslash before the > in some coding, which is only used in XHTML
- Using
<center>which is deprecated in HTML 4.01 Strict, the doctype you’re using - Forgetting the alt tag in ALL your images.
Since you are using WordPress it’s best to convert to XHTML, as WordPress writes your entries in XHTML. At Tutorialtastic you’ll find tutorials on how to convert your site.
Your CSS has 42 errors. You have plenty of blank values such as:
background-color: #;
In a lot of other places, background should be background-color.
You are also stating font-style: none. This is wrong and should be font-style: normal.
Also, make sure you put units at the end of values – padding: 0 should have a value like px.
Overall I’d say your coding is reasonable but validation errors are being caused by scripts and other little widgets.
Browser Compatibility & Usability
According to Browsershots.org your site looks okay in most browsers.
The navigation’s quite nice. It’s got some variation with the rest of the CSS which is good.
The default text is of a good size and colour.
Layout
I see a simple layout with minimal colours which is very easy on the eyes. I like how the pink breaks up the blacks and greys.
Congratulations on the centered layout. I like how the stripy background adds variation to the simple header.
The CSS looks great; I really like the links.
Overall it’s a pretty neat layout, very simple but quite nice.
Content
In your sidebar, navigation about should be navigation above.

Fanlistings
I can’t really review this section; I’m not going to look at every fanlisting you have but I’d like to note that using a script is a great way to organise things.
One problem I currently notice is that you lack a credits page. You need to credit WordPress, Enthusiast, your host, people who have helped you, programs you use, and even those celebrity images.
Originality & Creativity
Your site pretty much lacked originality and creativity. It was a little creative in terms of your current layout, but otherwise, everything was pretty boring and unoriginal.
I wasn’t expecting a fanlistings collective; it’s not something usually reviewed. Your visitor content was rather ordinary and lacking; but I’m guessing it’s just not a major part of your site.
Organisation & Errors
Some spelling and grammar errors. I didn’t spot any broken links; good job there.
Things were pretty well organised.
Overall Comment
Vanessa, your site needs some spiffing up. You’ve got a clean and fresh look going on but you need to add more interesting things, particularly in your visitor content.
For a collective things aren’t that bad, but generally a collective is not combined with other things. The purpose of your site is somewhat lost in all the other bits and pieces in your site.
Your site is generally nice and simple but lacking a little ‘oomph’. You show great dedication in your site, and I don’t really have many suggestions.
