Site Name
I like how you got the name. I never would have guessed it stemmed from PATD. I like how it’s easy to remember and it has a nice ring to it.
Layout
Wow, it’s really impressive. I love the textured section at the top, and I can see your site URL on your header image, which looks great. I like the very minimal brushes, it adds some oomph while still keeping the layout simple.
Your site’s name is in bold and in several different colours which looks really good, and the mirror effect is nice.
The navigation is very clear. All the colours are really nice and work well together. Your text is clear and the layout as a whole is easy on the eyes, and the colours are really soothing.
I like the CSS, and the variation in the headers for the sidebar and the headers for your content. I also like the capitalised links.
Looking briefly over your coding, I see you are using HTML 4.01 Transitional (you can see your validation here), but you have errors in your coding because you sometimes use a slash “/” before an end tag, and this is only done in XHTML. You also have other
various coding errors, but while coding is not always important to be valid, it’s good to have it anyway.
Overall your layout is excellent – simple with a fitting touch – and I really have no complaints!
Content
About
Interesting history! I enjoyed reading it, actually. I find that most people start out on Piczo and I never heard of it till about a year ago!
Your ‘about Vicky’ page was also an interesting read, it gives just the right amount of information about you. It’s sad that you fear about people offline finding out about your site. I personally don’t mind people finding out but I guess when it comes to blogging, I may not want close friends to read what I write.
I’m sorry to hear about your condition. I play with my hair as well
. Well, I really did like this page, you seem like a really nice person after what I’ve read
Your affiliates page is organised well, as is your credits page. 1 to 1 should be one-to-one.
Another organised page of past layouts! I’m really enjoying browsing your site. I love all your past layouts and I remember some of them too, particularly the ones back in August. I like that you have variety in the layouts you have.
The site stats are a great thing to include, but maybe put an asterisk or a note that this opens in a new window. Some people may have popups blocked, especially on Internet Explorer.
Tutorials
Again, very well organised. I’m excited to look through these tutorials and learn something.
I’m looking through the Animation Shop tutorials – in the looping one, you need to capitalise an I there, and ok should be ‘okay’ or ‘OK’.
In your transparency tutorial, ok should also be ‘okay’ or ‘OK’.
I really like these tutorials so far, they’re very clear. I like how you’ve included a brief description at the top of each tutorial. I don’t use Animation Shop but these tutorials would really help! I like how you’ve italicised or emphasised the functions to make it clear.
Your Cpanel tutorials are great, though I found how to use Cpanel through the wizards and things. I like the screenshots, but you should probably include them in the tutorial rather than as links so viewers don’t need to click and have another window open.
In tutorials such as your CSS one on custom textareas, avoid telling visitors to remove the asterisks, by using < and > for your HTML tags.
In your second navigation blocks tutorial, a funny character appears instead of an apostrophe. This appears in Firefox. In Internet Explorer, a small box appears – but you should know what I mean. Perhaps it’s a “smart quote” and not a straight quote, so maybe deleting the character and just retyping it would help.

I suggest you remove the tutorials on Cutenews. Not because they’re bad – I’ve liked all your tutorials so far – it’s just that Cutenews is a very insecure script and it’s easy to inject malicious code into it, and your tutorials might encourage people to use it. You might want to read this article for more information.
With your Freewebs tutorials, like I mentioned before, it would be better to put the images on the page rather than making a link to them. Same with the asterisks, you can display the code without it.
In all your Fanupdate tutorials, and your done should be ‘and you’re done’.
In your FTP and PHP tutorials, you have a subheading for PHP but not for FTP. On your adding pages tutorial, you have more funny characters:

Your basics page and PHP includes tutorials also has these characters. On your chmod tutorial, ok should be ‘okay’ or ‘OK’. In all your FTP tutorials except basics, and your done should be ‘and you’re done’.
In your finding absolute path tutorial, I like how you’ve set out the code with the <code> tags. It looks a lot neater and I suggest showing all code in a similar manner, where possible.
In your blockquote tutorial under HTML/Javascript, perhaps it would be a good idea to show an example of the blockquote.
Your custom links tutorial would be better off named as ‘tabled links’ or something else, because when I saw ‘custom’ I was thinking CSS-wise and formatting links. Alot should be a lot, and your done should be ‘and you’re done’. You also have funny characters on this page too.
In your email button and last updated tutorials, your finished should be ‘you’re finished’.
In your favicons and history links tutorials, And your done should be ‘and you’re done’.
In your direct linking tutorial under Miscellaneous, I should be capitalised.
In your downloading fonts tutorial, And your done should be ‘and you’re done’.
Moving onto Paint Shop Pro tutorials now. You have a subheading for ‘text effects’ but not for ‘image effects’.
In your adding a border tutorial, ok should also be ‘okay’ or ‘OK’.
In your angel effect tutorial, i have choosen should be I have chosen; and your done should be ‘and you’re done’.
In your any image border tutorial, I’ll should be capitalised; and your done should be ‘and you’re done’; and you have a few Is that need to be capitalised.
In your basic blending tutorial, thats over the first picture should be ‘that’s over the first picture’; and you have a few Is that need to be capitalised.
In your custom brushes tutorial, ok should be ‘okay’ or ‘OK’; and your done should be ‘and you’re done’.
In your glow effect tutorial, and your done should be ‘and you’re done’.
In your halftone tutorial, Your done should be ‘you’re done’, and I should be capitalised.
In your icons and image mapping tutorial, you have a few of those funny characters again.
In your image mapping tutorial, and your done should be ‘and you’re done’.
In your image rollovers tutorial, Once your done should be ‘Once you’re done’.
In your making PNGs tutorial, i have chose should be ‘I have chosen’.
In your mirror effect tutorial, Your finished should be ‘You’re finished’.
In your overlay smooth tutorial, i have choosen should be ‘I have chosen’.
In your page curl tutorial, I and Paint Shop Pro should be capitalised; Now your done should be ‘now you’re done’.
In your painted picture tutorial, dublicate should be duplicate.
In your picture frame tutorial, I should be capitalised; And your done should be ‘and you’re done’.
In your pixel effect tutorial, ok should be ‘okay’ or ‘OK’.
In your polaroids tutorial, I’ll should be capitalised; And your done should be ‘And you’re done’.
In your quick blend tutorial, I should be capitalised; And your done should be ‘and you’re done’.
In your removing splash screen tutorial, you have a few of those funny characters again.
In your sunburst tutorial, ok should be ‘okay’ or ‘OK’; when your done should be ‘when you’re done’.
In your transparent box tutorial, i have choosen should be I have chosen; and your done should be ‘and you’re done’; ok should be ‘okay’ or ‘OK’.
In your using scripts tutorial, you have a few of those funny characters again.
In your vintage effect tutorial, i have choosen (twice) should be I have chosen; ok should be ‘okay’ or ‘OK’; and your done should be ‘and you’re done’.
In all your text effects tutorials under PSP, ok should be ‘okay’ or ‘OK’.

In your lightbox tutorial under scripts, ok should be ‘okay’ or ‘OK’.

In your approving comments and installing WordPress tutorials, And your done should be ‘And you’re done’.
In your post word counter and site statistics WordPress plugins tutorials, And your done should be ‘And you’re done’.
Calender should be calendar.
Visitor
Your resources are great. The coded layouts are okay but I don’t like the grey background on the blue one. It’s sort of out of place.
The previews for your website templates would look better as screenshots, because I was confused as to what they were until I saw the previews.
Your graphics are all pretty good. I really like the backgrounds that are of a similar texture to your header’s.
Reviews
I obviously won’t be reviewing your reviews, but I’m sure you’d offer great ones!
Under rules, Freeweb should be Freewebs.
Under criteria, there should be a period at the end of great some day.
On your form, I should be capitalised.
Originality
I liked your layout a lot, I thought it really showed your style, like your other layouts that I have seen. You have a lot of tutorials, many of which I’ve seen before, unfortunately, but some which I hadn’t.
Your resources were all very nice and of good quality. I really liked how you included your soccer videos!
Organisation/Errors
Very, very well organised, but I have to admit I’m tired of your consistency with errors, if you know what I mean! I really liked the organisation though. I just think you really need to fix those errors.
Also, you need to put a limit to your advertisees. There’s just so many! And I’m not sure what you mean with the asterisks next to some of your hostees.
Overall comment
Vicky, your site was amazing and I learnt a lot of new tips and tricks with your PSP tutorials. I have always loved your layouts because they’re so well made.
You have a lot of tutorials that I can see really help a lot of people, and some resources. I don’t really have anything else to add. You sound like a great person who’s committed to their website.
If I had any suggestions – maybe add some Photoshop tutorials? But also, you really need to address those grammar errors. I’m sure most of them were typos and you had that habit of typing ‘your’ instead of ‘you’re’ (you are). But I hope you don’t mind me saying
that they were really quite annoying to point out. I hope this review helped you, even in some way.
Your site is just excellent and a great help for people who need to touch up their graphic skills (like me!). All I highly suggest you do is fix those grammar errors, and your you’re done!
