It’s pretty easy to add smilies in FanUpdate, but I added this tutorial because some people are still unsure!
Unfortunately, FanUpdate isn’t like Cutenews, so you can’t have those clickable smilies and have the code appear in the box.
To add smilies, simply upload all your emoticons to the img directory in your FanUpdate folder.
Login to FanUpdate and go to Options > Smilies.
Choose a smiley from the drop-down menu:
After choosing a smiley, type in a keyboard shortcut for the smiley in the text box, and then click ‘add’.
When the keyboard shortcuts are typed in your blog or someone types it in a comment, the smiley will appear. You don’t have to let your visitors know but if you do, you can show the shortcut as well as the image when you display your smilies.
